  • Speaker: Jung Seminar, Bowdoin College
    Brunswick, ME December 10, 2002 ,
"Stan Block succeeded in making available and useful to a sizeable and varied seminar audiences the substance of his fine book, BRIDGING THE I-SYSTEM: Unifying Spirituality and Behavior.
The point of his presentation was to assist the person to set aside his "busy head" so as to be fully present to the fullness of present experience, including the usually unnoticed details of the sensate. The way to approximate this goal is to cultivate "choiceless awarness," which entails overcoming the narrowness and superficiality of the I-System, befriending it by introducing it the source.
The presentation was enhanced by Stan's natural, easy manner, radiating wisdom and compassion. It was a fitting conclusion to the Seminar's unusually successful semester.
WILLIAM D. GEOGHEGAN, Ph.D., Professor of Religion, Emeritus, Bowdoin College, author of JUNG'S PSYCHOLOGY AS A SPIRITUAL PRACTICE AND WAY OF LIFE: A dialogue University Press of America, 2002.
Stan Block's presentation of "Bridging the I-System" has a fresh way of elucidating what Jungians refer to as the ego and its complexes along the ego-self axis. His concern to bridge the I-System to the "Source" seems to share a bond, though not in vocabulary, with the spirit of Jung's deepest concern.
PAUL D. HUSS, D.Min., Pastoral Counselor, Jungian Analyst, Diploma: C.G. Jung Institute-Zurich, Diplomate: AAPC."
